What is laparoscopic surgery?

It is a surgical technique that is practiced through small incisions through which an optical fiber and a lens are introduced, as well as specialized instruments that allow the surgical team to perform almost any abdominal and pelvic procedure in a minimally invasive way, avoiding large cuts of scalpel required in conventional or open surgery, and therefore allowing a much faster and more comfortable post-operative period.

Among the most common applications is cholecystectomy, an operation by which the gallbladder is removed; being today the most recommended procedure; Likewise, a significant percentage of patients suffering from reflux disease and hiatal hernia must undergo fundoplication surgery.
